Just a Regular Day in the Life

So often I’ve been writing these blogs about something that’s happened in particular. Obviously a lot recently have been about my CSC trip, but I thought it would be good to be able to look back sometime in the future on what things were like when nothing special happens. Because I’ve learned that time goes so fast that in the not so distant future, I’m sure this will no longer be the norm. So here it goes:
On a normal weekday, I likely am getting up around 6 when the kids start to stir. Sometimes I’ll crawl into Crosby’s bed to try to get him to sleep a bit longer, but even if I do that, not long after, it’s time to try to help get Carlyn ready to go to MoMo’s. When Korey’s getting ready for work, I usually will get Carlyn into a clean diaper and clothes for the day. I’ll also usually make myself a bowl of cereal which depending on the kind, Carlyn will steal some bites as well. I’ll also try to get a head start on email for the day to take care of anything that came in late in the evening or overnight.
Sometime around then, Crosby will get up as well, and we need to “wave bye to Mommy” as she pulls out of the garage to head to work. He and I then try to sort out what I can get him to eat, and assuming the weather is good, we’ll usually catch up with Wes to go for a run with the jogging stroller and take him to the park before I drop him off at Jennifer’s.
I’ll run back home and mix up a Shakeology in the Vitamix, and then comes regular work. Depending on what my meeting schedule is like, I’ll squeeze a quick shower in at some point as well. From a work perspective, I fight through a barrage of email, conference calls, and trying to get real work done as well.

Being the health conscious (and typically predictable person), I’ll eat my usual salad every day for lunch. I’ve started to favor the the 7 superfood mix at Costco over the straight spinach. It’s a bit more expensive, but the smaller bag never goes to waste and I like the variety.
Korey picks up the kids and Crosby always comes busting in the garage door with a big “Boo!” and hops up into my lap for a minute. Korey and Carlyn are about a minute behind, but without failure, as soon as Carlyn sees me she gives me a big smile, comes to give me a hug, then wants to go back to Mommy.
Crosby has gotten good at reading the clock and makes sure to let me know when there’s a 5 first… Which sometimes means it’s time to quit for the day and sometimes doesn’t. If I need to keep working, he’ll ask if I have “Just one more thing to do.” On most days, it’s then time to bounce in the bouncy castle with the two of them if Korey is cooking that night.
After we sort out dinner and sometimes go for a walk, we’ll play until it’s time to start getting ready for bed. Crosby (and to a certain extent now Carlyn) need to watch an episode of Paw Patrol before the rest of the bedtime routine. Carlyn has definitely been wanting to do more of what he’s doing whether that’s watching TV, bouncing, or reading books. After we “check” the three books, we then sort through who can cuddle with Crosby, but in reality it usually ends up being both of us. Korey and I will then have a little time to ourselves which recently we’ve been using to watch back episodes of Scandal or doing BeachBody workouts some evenings.
Bedtime, sleep, and repeat!
Often times, there’s nothing out of the ordinary, but sometimes if you have a good thing, you don’t need to change it!
